Executive Director
Norma Peterson is the sister-in-law of Stacy Peterson, whose disappearance in 2007 brought national attention and placed Norma’s family under intense public scrutiny. Drawing from that painful experience, Norma has since dedicated herself to supporting victims of domestic violence and raising awareness about the Evidentiary Abuse Affidavit (EAA) — a prevention tool that helps victims document critical information that could aid investigations and prosecutions if they go missing or are harmed.
Through her advocacy, Norma works with law enforcement, judicial systems, and legislators to integrate the EAA into domestic violence protocols. She also assists victims in creating their own affidavits.
Norma is a frequent speaker, trainer, and advocate, educating law enforcement, first responders, victim advocates, community groups, and professionals on supporting victims and documenting abuse. Her outreach includes numerous media appearances (OWN, Oxygen, Reelz UK, NBC, CBS, WGN, podcasts) and presentations at national conferences such as the National Missing Persons Conference and NAWLEE, National Center for Victims of Crime among others.
She actively serves on the DuPage Family Violence Coordinating Council and the Illinois DV Fatality Review Board, and partners with organizations like CUE Center and Community United Effort (CUE). Her mission is to give survivors and victims’ a voice, provide tools for protection, and change how communities respond to abuse and missing persons cases.
